This week, the classes completed the “Apple Activity” where a group of 4-6 students tried to come up with 36 different visual representations of an apple. Students came up with everything from Apple computer to apple pie to Johnny Appleseed. They may have (for example) started the activity in Library and were able to continue with their reflections the following day in Art.
One of the exciting elements of the new Studio Plan is that all students are guided on this project by 3-4 different teachers (library, drama, computers/media, and visual arts) depending on the class the students attend on any given day. The activities and lesson the students are participating in are fluid between their Studio classes. When students are working on the same project across several disciplines with several teachers, they are able to go more in-depth with their research, exploration, and ultimately, execution.
