Shared Vision and Norms
-Discuss what’s working and what’s not working
-Focus on one thing at a time: that pillar as an organizer or lens
-See where everyone is at in their units
-Unpack our practice: why did a planned activity go differently than we thought?
-Problem solve through our instructional focus
-Reflect on our routines in the classroom: How can we adjust and differentiate?
To that end, we agreed on the following norms:
Here are some of our wonderings as we investigate play in our own practice:
-What are acceptable forms of play in the classroom?
-How can games be hacked for academic learning?
-How can I advocate the use of board games in my classroom? What evidence is out there?
-How can other forms of play (imaginative play, etc) support cognitive development? What does it look like?
Eden has two pieces about Play that he’ll share with us and we can discuss next week. Through that conversation, we can develop some focused questions that can guide our practice and inquiry moving forward.
